 Our Helping Hands

Friends groups are organizations dedicated to supporting specific DCR properties through volunteer work, fundraising, providing programs & events, and advocacy.  Helping with park projects, organizing fund raisers to help purchase much needed equipment or supplies, or serving as an advocate for the park when needed, the Friends groups are essential partners in  protecting and enhancing DCR’s parks.

Our Scusset Friends Group, organized in 2009, helps make the park better for everyone to enjoy.        

Perhaps you are a camper, beach-goer, angler, dog-walker or bird watcher who enjoys Scusset Beach.  What ever the reason you enjoy being here, you may be interested in joining with other visitors to help the park staff by joining the Friends of Scusset Beach.   About The Friends of Scusset Beach

Projects Completed 2010 and 2011

• Boardwalk to the Canal Access Road - completed 2010,  enables handicapped access to the jetty and access road.  The Boardwalk Dedication Day - August 28, 2010.

• Walkway through the Scusset Beach campground - enable safer access to the restroom, nature center, and pavilion for all campers.   

Projects Planned for 2012

• Plans for 2012 are centering around the beach bathhouses.... landscaping, cleaning, painting.    Beautifying the bathhouse building for all Scusset Beach patrons.

• Assisting at Park Serve Day,   April 21st, 2012 .
